Psychologist specialising in addictions in Toledo

Psychologist for addictions in Toledo

When something stops being a choice and becomes a need, addiction takes over. Whether it's alcohol, gambling, your phone or any other dependency, there is a way out. I support you with therapy for addictions in Toledo and online, without judgement and with support for your family too.

Do you recognise this?

Do you recognise yourself in this?

Addiction isn't always visible from the outside. Sometimes it's one drink that turns into five, or a phone that fills every free moment. If you recognise yourself in several of these signs, asking for help is an act of courage, not weakness.

  • You've tried to quit or cut down on your own and can't manage it.
  • You need more and more to feel the same effect.
  • You hide or play down how much you drink, gamble or use.
  • You keep going despite the problems it's causing you (health, money, relationships).
  • You feel irritable, anxious or unwell when you can't.
  • The guilt afterwards is huge, but the next day you do it again.

Addiction isn't a matter of willpower: it's a problem that can be treated. And you don't have to do it alone.

Types of addiction

What addictions I treat

Alcohol and other substances

Use that has become a problem for your health, your work or your relationships. We work on the causes, the triggers and how to regain control without guilt.

Gambling

Betting, online casinos, cards or lotteries that have got out of control. Gambling addiction is treatable, and the cycle of relapse and debt can be stopped.

Phone, social media and new technologies

Compulsive use of your phone, social media, video games or pornography that steals your time, sleep and presence. You rebuild a healthy relationship with technology.

Other dependencies

Shopping, food or other behaviours you use to avoid feeling. We look at what lies beneath and I give you tools to manage it differently.

What therapy is like

How we work on your addiction

It's not about lectures or guilt. It's about understanding what that substance or behaviour does for you and giving you real alternatives, respecting your pace and your decisions.

  1. Without judgement, we understand what's happening

In a space of trust we look at the role addiction plays in your life and what keeps it going. Understanding it is the beginning of change.

  2. Tools for everyday life

You learn to manage cravings, anticipate high-risk situations and build habits and support that sustain change.

  3. Relapse prevention

Relapse is part of the process and not a failure. We prepare a plan to hold on to what you've achieved and face the difficult moments.

What you'll gain

Take back control of your life

  • You regain control over the substance or behaviour.
  • You understand what was driving you to it and work on the root.
  • You gain tools to manage cravings and relapses.
  • You repair your relationship with yourself and those around you.
  • You reduce the guilt and shame that fed the cycle.
  • You get back time, money and presence for what matters.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about addictions

Do I have to quit completely before starting therapy?

No. You don't need to arrive "clean" or have already quit. Therapy is precisely the place where we work on how to do it, at your pace and without judgement. Wanting to change something is enough.

Do you work with the family too?

Yes. The family suffers and is at the same time a vital support. When it helps, I include sessions with your partner or family so they know how to support you without burning out or enabling the addiction.

Does a relapse mean I've failed?

No. Relapse is part of the process for many people and doesn't erase your progress. We use it to understand what went wrong and reinforce the plan. What matters is not giving up because of it.

Is everything confidential?

Absolutely. As a licensed psychologist I'm bound by professional secrecy. What you share with me is strictly confidential, both in the practice and online.

Does therapy for addictions work online?

Yes. Online follow-up works very well because it makes weekly consistency easier, which is key in addictions. Sessions are held by video call with the same confidentiality.

How much does a session cost?

You can check the current fees for the individual session and the first orientation session on the fees page (in Spanish).
