Psychologist specialising in OCD in Toledo
Obsessions and compulsions steal hours and energy every day. If obsessive-compulsive disorder is running your routines, it can be treated. I support you with therapy for OCD in Toledo and online, with a proven method and at your own pace.
Do you recognise this?
OCD isn't "being very tidy". It's getting trapped in a loop of thoughts that distress you and acts that relieve you only for a while. If you live with several of these signs, there's an explanation and a treatment.
You're not "crazy" and you're not the only one: OCD is more common than it seems and responds very well to the right therapy.
Types of OCD
A fear that some disaster will happen (a fire, a lapse, some harm) that leads you to check doors, gas, emails or your own body over and over. We work to break that cycle of constant doubt.
A fear of infection or dirt that leads to washing, disinfecting or avoidance. You learn to tolerate uncertainty without resorting to the ritual.
Obsessions of a religious, sexual, aggressive or relationship nature that cause great shame and that almost no one sees, with invisible mental rituals. Naming them and understanding them already brings relief.
The need for everything to be "in its place" or to repeat until it "fits". You regain flexibility and stop depending on things being perfect.
What therapy is like
The most evidence-backed treatment for OCD is exposure with response prevention (ERP), always at your pace. It's not about enduring for the sake of it, but about teaching your brain that the distress fades on its own.
We identify your obsessions, your rituals and which situations trigger them. Understanding how OCD works takes away the fear and gives you back some control.
You face what you fear step by step and by agreement, learning not to respond with the ritual. We start with what's most manageable and progress together.
We consolidate what you've learned so you can handle the difficult moments on your own and OCD stops shaping your day-to-day.

Format
You can come to my practice in Toledo or have your sessions as an online psychologist for OCD from wherever you are. Treatment for OCD works very well in an online format.
In fact, many exposures make sense in your own environment (your home, your routines), so video call can even be an advantage. You choose the format that suits you best.

OCD doesn't always "disappear", but with the right treatment most people greatly reduce their symptoms and get their normal life back. The goal is for OCD to stop running your day-to-day.
It means approaching what distresses you gradually and by agreement, without performing the ritual that normally calms you. That way your brain learns that the distress fades on its own and that the ritual wasn't necessary. It's always done at your pace.
Medication is assessed and prescribed by a doctor or psychiatrist, not a psychologist. In some cases of OCD, therapy and medication are combined. Therapy works on the mechanism of the problem and gives you lasting tools.
No. The intrusive thoughts in OCD are the very opposite of what you want: they distress you precisely because they go against your values. Having them says nothing about you as a person; it's part of the disorder itself.
Yes. Treatment for OCD is just as effective online as in person for most people, and sometimes working in your own environment is an advantage. Sessions are held by video call with complete confidentiality.
You can check the current fees for the individual session and the first orientation session on the fees page (in Spanish).
